It's even more impressive when you know that the city was built as a miniature with cgi reduced to a minimum. The true art of filmmaking.

This music in the theater was downright haunting...

Believe it or not, the shot at 0:57 onwards is not CGI (except, of course the hologram thing). It's almost entirely shot using miniatures and models. Impressive

Greatest film ever made. Like wrapping up in a beautiful nightmare blanket. Literally obsessed with this film.

L.A. looks like Beijing ate Shanghai and threw it up on Tokyo.

the environmental collapse is more than evident, natural resources such as water, energy are seen in the film, the city is dark due to the electrical restrictions and the shower is reduced to a few seconds at high pressure, it is bright and coherent

I think beautifully ugly is the best way to describe the world that's portrayed in this and the original. It's breathtaking in some ways but you wouldn't want to live in it.

Now that I'm really looking closely at it, I'm realizing that it looks like the makings of a Coruscant-like city, with layer upon layer of nothing but man-made structures. It really adds to the depressing feel of the city.

Glad they carried the atmosphere from the first one. The first one you can feel the humidity, the smell of the chinese food from elsewhere with a mix of probably stinky ass pollution mixed with the rain. Yet it's bright and lively.

Now you feel as if the air is suffocating, and the snow you see later on could very well be dust, mixed with pollution or even real snow. It's foggy, cold, and the only sources of light are from buildings that have them, other than that it's nothing but darkness.

Love the contrast between the two worlds and you can clearly see how much has changed from LA 2019 to LA 2049 considering as well there was the blackout and war during 2022.

More contrast is the shot of K entering the old Tyrell building, in the original, it's welcoming, bright, with neon orange and it's grand symphonic score by Vangelis really made it feel like a paradise in dystopia, but in this one, it's dark, gloomy, still covered by the thick fog, no lights, and the ominous choir as if we are entering something punishing and forbidden.

The magic of Blade Runner everyone, it's a rare ocasion that we every get to witness a futuristic world so unrealistic yet so unique, vibrant, so original compared to any other futuristic cities any sci-fi film has shown...

While the original Blade Runner was very much dystopian, 2049 was straight up post-apocalyptic. This scene did a good job of setting itself within the world of Blade Runner while also differentiating itself

The first time I saw this, I was overwhelmed. The atmosphere of this film just grabs you and drags you into its depths.

Proof that smart use of miniatures and models can still overcome CGI Backgrounds.

I saw this movie twice in theaters. First time was in a Dolby cinema by myself and maybe 3 other people in attendance. The intensity of the sound was astonishing and overall ended up being one of the best movie going experiences in my life.
