This is powerful stuff, no doubt. But I think Houdini really needs to integrate its lookdev into the standard, object context OpenGL viewport. Blender’s Eevee render for example might be the best integration of lookdev I’ve seen so far. I don’t have to rebuild my entire scene in a new context, which is primarily what’s stopping me from using Solaris. I just press a button and my existing scene and materials are instantly rasterised in the viewport. I understand that Solaris is more than just lookdev, but Houdini doesn’t really have any other lookdev tools, and the IPRs are way too clunky for real-time use.

Solaris confuses the FK outa me - can we get some really beginner level tutorials on it? Starting from bringing in objects and setting up the scene/stage ?
