Once we understand how geology will impact our economic goals, we need to quantify those requirements.
Questions that should be asked can include:
How large does a geological feature need to be to be economically viable?
What lithology types and properties are we looking for?
Is there a minimum rock porosity required?
What is the minimum size of fault throw that needs imaging?
Once we understand the quantitative geological value that needs to be achieved to provide value to a business,
We then need to determine if it is geophysically possible for seismic to reach those quantitative values.
That leads us to a critical component in seismic acquisition:
DESIGNING AND MODELING A SEISMIC PROGRAM
