This short demonstration compares the lighting pattern between today's standard hazard lighting to the Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol lighting pattern at 4.5 flashes per second.

At 60 miles per hour, a vehicle covers 88 feet per second. Based on multiple human factors studies, flash frequencies at this rate have been shown to attract the quickest attention from oncoming traffic and thus allow oncoming traffic much more time and space to react to disabled vehicles or other hazards ahead.
