SIGiST Summer Conference 2023 | Backend APIs and testing (GraphQL and REST)

In this talk I am trying to shed some light into the dark scary world of back end development for quality engineers and testers. The majority of testing is done in the front end layer where we automate paths of user behaviours and configurations checking the result against an expected behaviour. Testing also should take place in the back end layer.

Back end testing mainly includes tests of the application logic, database queries, and other services like APIs. To understand and monitor the system we are working with we should be digging deeper into the backend layer, and as some one who have spent lots of time and energy in the backend side of small and large systems, in this talk I will be trying to expose those hidden layers focusing mainly on the API’s. After this talk I hope you will have a better understanding of API’s what they do and why they are important.
