*Ways To Help The Channel*

The concept of birthstones has become quite the industry since the turn of the last century. However this practice has deep and long standing roots. Many believe that an association exists between it and the Breastplate of Aaron (or Breastplate of Righteousness) but the truth extends far deeper...

Peridot is a gem variety of a mineral called forsterite. It forms from violent volcanic activities on the Earth but has also been seen in meteorites! This much maligned gemstone is truly a wonder of nature. Let's talk about that!

I’ve actually really like peridot, it reminds me of lush grass with a sparkle. Totally cool info about the beaches in Hawaii! I never knew that!

I was adopted as an infant in 1967. There was always a question about my "true" birthdate- was I born in June or August? It served the adoption agency well to say I was born in August, making me three months old when I was adopted in November. From the time I was a small child, my family gave me peridot jewelry. I've never considered the stone ugly. I've loved and worn it for decades; my sweet husband has spoiled me with large peridot rings (Lilly pad inclusion on the most significant stone!!), earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. When I wear my peridot pieces. I never fail to get a compliment! After the laws changed in 2017, I obtained a copy of my original birth certificate. Before I opened the package, I told my husband I didn't care what month or date I actually appeared on this earth. Nothing was going to change 50 years of me being an August baby full of the brilliance of peridot stones!

What a blessing to find out I was indeed born in August, a few days before my legal "adoption papers" birthdate!

Thank you for sharing the history and science behind this gorgeous gem!

I'm looking forward to this. I've had a few drinks and went looking for this, totally forgetting it wasn't out yet and I have to wait 😂

Peridot is my birthstone. I hated it as a kid, but over the years I’ve come to love it. Now I own several, and they’re beautiful.

I like peridot personally. Always have. I have some polished uncut stones and some jewelry.

Now sardonyx (alt Aug stone), that one I am not a fan of

Edit: hey don't forget about us unrepentant magpies who want the shinies for ourselves 😂

peridot is a tonic for the body, hold some pieces in both hands and feel the energy, it brings a lot of vitality.

Love the peridot stone color! It’s not my birthstone but the lime green color is pretty. Reminds me of a Sour Apple Martini 🍸 💚

I always figured November was the most hated birthstone. I know I hate the ugly yellow orange color of November more than any of the others

I can't shake the feeling of deja vu; seems like I've heard most of this before.

The peridot has an interesting history. I didn't know it could be found in a meteorite. I'd like to add a piece of the meteorite to my collection but it's probably out of my price range! It is a pretty gem though.

My birthstone stone and favorite gemstone. I have a lot, including a huge pear shaped pendant. I wear peridot daily.
