Happy to hear that Hila is okay!! ❤🙏 Sucks to see our babies sick!

In regards to pet insurance, I try to put away monthly what insurance would cost, then I have that money aside for any vet visits !

Hands down - Get the insurance. I had Trupanion insurance for my cat. Over many years I paid about $8, 000 in premiums, only having spent a few thousand in reimbursable care over the years, and was regretting it a bit. And then my cat was diagnosed with two kinds of cancer. In the end, her treatments totaled up to almost $30, 000. But because insurance covered at least 75% of that, I always was able to say yes to the best possible treatments, and I never felt like I had to balance the life of a family member against the cost of care. That was the real value, plus the extra time I had with her because of her treatments.

We got pet insurance for our Dane when she was a puppy because she was rambunctious and kept getting all these big injuries. The doggo ER actually knew her.

Fortunately, Sasha (the husky) was a chill puppy and didnt get into trouble. Yes, it's true. But if you have a dog who cant keep out if trouble, insurance is a good idea.

I'm so glad your pupperonies are okay!

Thank you again for sharing your topics and nice that Hila is all well 🐾
Wondering if you can make a topic about how much human language dogs really understand, what are best ways to communicate with our fluffy friends, ....how dogs see the world.... 🐾🤩

I have insurance on both my Siberian huskies (Norway), and with it also comes free consultations 24/7with a vet. Just need to book it on the first free spot. I have used it a few times (booked time 15 minutes in advance) and I ended up not having to drive them to the vets most of the times. I’ve also ended up with recommendation to go the vet, and then I’ve done that :)

It sounds like Hila had a seizure. The symptoms sounds to what I've seen numerous times for a seizure. Even the uncontrollable urination can be caused by misfire of nerves due to a seizure.

We have a tone of pets, and have looked into pet insurance but always came back to the decision to just keep doing what we are doing...my pets have their own emergency account and credit card...BUT I can only do that because my kids are grown. 🙂

Just went through this with my pup shadow his got better insurance then I do though haha
Went straight to the vet cause he was having problems with his eyes turns out he had the beginning of conjunctivitis so they gave us cream to rub into his eye balls but his our baby so we'll always go the extra mile for him ❤️

Not sure a I agree with you on it being a wash. Really this is going to depend on a lot of factors… For example I pay $100.08 per month for Nationwide Pet Insurance for my Siberian Husky. The plan I am on pays for preventative, emergency, and general issues at a 90% reimbursement rate. In my situation my Husky is on prescription dog food that costs about $100 a month and the insurance pays me about $90. This means that dog food only costs me about $10 a month! Than you need take into account vaccinations, heart worm pills, flea and tick meds… all reimbursed at 90%. When he was a puppy the plan paid 90% of the costs associated with being neutered. The insurance had more than paid for itself… and that is not taking into account the general issues and emergency situations like eating a rubber glove for example.

Some people may buy it and never need it and that is great… but a $500 vet bill is nothing… Everyone should take into account the breed of dog, the activities you will be doing with your dog or not doing and your personal financial situation to determine if it pet insurance makes since.

Also be sure to check with your employer to see if you can get a discount price on pet insurance through them.

FYI: For those Redding this I don’t think Nation Wife offers the 90% reimbursement plan anymore, but the plans they do offer are still pretty good and are cheaper per month.

Sixty, curious had you recently given her any kind of meds, vaccines or flea treatments etc? My last two dogs had neurological and seizures following topical and oral flea/tick/worm meds. And both had acupuncture to give them more years to their lives.
