Asia-Pacific is the most rapidly ageing region in the world.
By 2050, one in four persons will be above the age of 60, the majority of whom will be women.
While there is no single comprehensive policy to address population ageing, it is important to ensure that policies are grounded in gender equality and human rights and that they take a life-cycle approach.
Investing in each stage of a woman's life from childbirth to childhood to adolescence to adulthood will determine the course of her life path.
It is only when we invest in every stage of her life, that she, and society as a whole, can age with good health, economic safety, and dignity.
