I find it easier the other way around. start with the "sigh" (or growl or maybe just do a vocal fry) and add the singing note to it.

The way I found to get into subharmonic throat singing was to go back and forth between chest and vocal fry, and get myself to land with on the transition between the two, then leaning into that sound. But this works as well, at least when you already know what it's supposed to feel like.

He is right though, you can hurt your voice trying it. Once you figure it out it doesn't hurt and is quite easy, but it takes some time to really fine tune what it's supposed to feel like, when trying to get into it it's quite easy to do it incorrectly and cause damage. If at any point you feel any pain trying it, stop, and don't try again for at least a good while.

I throat sing to warm up for harsh vocals, aka “death metal” vocals, from the highs to the lows lol. Great warm up, too. But now i’m starting to touch on overtone throat singing which is a whole different world.

I know how to sing from my throat, but HOW I learned it was embarrassingly ridiculous. I watched a meme about a man saying "Beans" and I thought it was funny how it was said. I tried saying it like he did, and learned how to speak and 'sing' in that voice.
