If you played the game and found all of the hospital logs from the fireflies you would know that Joel didn't lie to Ellie, there were like 16+ prior surgeries done on people who were immune to cordyceps but in a slightly different way if I remember right which is debatable since Joel felt it was and guess he won the debate?

You can never truly survive an apocalypse all alone. Hence why you need other people to lean on during these distressing moments in your life.

In regard to recreating the cure/immunity within a person:

Ellie’s mother was bit before she cut the umbilical cord. And the infection was only in the mother’s system for like maybe a minute before she cut the cord. Meaning, if it had been any longer, Ellie could’ve died from infection rather than be immune. This also means that recreating this by chance (with other pregnant women randomly getting attacked and give birth within a minute to cut the cord) is unlikely.
We can also assume that Marlene is the only one that knows the most about the circumstances in which Ellie was born. And Joel kills Marlene at the end of season one, so again, we can assume that the information on how to recreate immunity is now lost forever.

21:29 this mattress idea is probably a bad one unless the horse is moving at a slow pace... if it runs too fast, the mattress will slide around side to side or possibly even flip over and seriously injure joel unless there was a very carefully designed harness mechanism - and I don't think ellie has the time to come up with that on such short notice. i tugged my siblings around on enough sleds to figure this out the hard way lol. as long as it's walking rather than galloping or trotting, it should hopefully work out though.

I highly disagree. If anything, killing David would be the worst move there is. David is the only person who wanted to bring Ellie back ALIVE in the entire raiding party. So killing him wouldn't make the raiders not want to kill Ellie, it would make them want to hunt her down even more.
