I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.

Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.

I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

My son is an Uber driver in a college town.
One of his most frequent problems is young kids who want to force six people into a five seat car.
Robo taxi could ride all day and all night in any large city… Driving young people to events and on group dates! This generation does not date alone!

A robotaxi should roll up and robots should get out, gets something, get back in the vehicle and drive off.

The max safe continuous rate of charge from a 120 Volt outlet is approximately 1.5kw.

If you charge overnight for 14 hours, that is 1.5kw x 14hr = 21kwh.

If a very efficient EV can get 4 miles / kwh, then the max overnight charge at 120V = 84 miles.

Also, charging at 120V is only 85% efficient, where charging at 240V is 95% efficient.

If you have 240V dryer (or other) plug in your house, you can charge much faster and more efficiently. However, you must know the safe max Amps that outlet and the wire supplying that outlet can handle.

My prediction: Tesla's 25k car will also be the Robotaxi, two products in one made on a single production line. The car will convert from personal car to Robotaxi with the easily removable/installable steer-by-wire wheel. Forget just hailing a Robotaxi, anyone will be able to BUY one on Oct 10th!

What if the unbox method conversion started by making the cars steer by wire? If that resulted in a lower cost car, suddenly every converted model is a potential robotaxi. Then the compact car is just the cheapest of the line making them a better business option.

30:00, there is up to 25% waste on a 110 outlet for charging an EV. Level 2 at ~11kW is just 8-10% waste of electricity.

$25K Car & Cybercab will be exactly the same except the Car will have removable steering wheel/pedals. This approach enables max cybercab production scaling, regardless of what regulatory approvals are in place at the time in various regions of the world.

Another thought is that Elon has stated that Robotaxi won't be super special. He said it's more of a point A to point B vehicle. I'm not expecting a wow vehicle, but an FSD eco-system focusing primarily on M2, and a couple notes about "future vehicles".

Obviously I'd love to see multiple vehicles, but i don't think we'll see that.
