I just bought the QSP Penguin Mini recently and I really like it. I love the fact that it has 14C28N blade steel. I also have the original version in the blue jean micarta. I detest D2 blade material so I don't carry it very often. I love your channel Jake and I'm glad you are feeling better.

Good to see an update from you Jake, and nice overview of the Penguin(s.) The Penguin has been on my shortlist since I got back into the knife hobby, but I haven't gotten one yet! A prime example that less can indeed be more when it comes to design practice.

Glad you're regaining your health! I found myself banging on my S35VN Penguin with a wrench the other day... Trying to split an oak barrel stave with 9 years of aging... Not a scratch or wobble, tho I did stop after a while, and waited til I could use a hatchet... 🤣Great knife! Carry mine everyday (and it's kept me from buying bunch of others with the 'would it replace the S35VN Pengiun?' test!)

I will eventually get around to getting myself a QSP Penguin - I definitely like the knife’s profile. UPDATE: On Cyber Monday I ordered a Penguin with black blade & blue denim micarta scales with 25% off the price. Delivery is tomorrow. I am anxiously awaiting delivery.

Great knife, I bought one from Drop. Can't remember where it is at the moment, I have knives on display and in a box. Found it! I think it's time to carry it again.

Still love my standard D2 with chocolate brown micarta. Gorgeous soft feel yet somehow grippy. Such a useful blade and a joy to use. Uk knife laws mean I can use it only for work and at home, but can’t EDC it. However still glad I bought it from Heinnie Haynes for less than £30.

By the way, I bought a denim micarta Penguin when they came out. The D2 takes a surgical edge. Great design and execution, good value.

Because I often have to pull my pocket knife while sitting, I've found the thumbstuds in the penguin to be a little bit more protruding than other blades and catch very easily on the seem of the pocket. Nevertheless, that has not prevented me to acquire 6 different Penguins, hahaha. Cheers!!
