To me I feel like this song is about a relationship ending and it was not mutual. The person writing the lyrics are using metaphors to describe how since they left it has destroyed their heart and they can't get over it. " Now your in Milwaukee off your feet".. So they have isolated themselves away. "Hauled away far from the highway aisle" ..they are tortured by the memories they once had. And realizing they were not that other person's everything, "And once I knew, I was not magnificent"..
