As to PB&J, it's a super-simple comfort food meal that's really easy to make.

It's not gourmet, it's just something simple to make for the kids (who tend to love sweet things), and has a mix of carbs, fat, & a fair amount of protein. Plus, it keeps well (relatively non-perishable), so it's easy to sendoff with kids to school for lunch.

And it tends to be relatively inexpensive, since you can get a loaf or two of bread for like a buck, a jar of jelly for a couple bucks, and a big jar of peanut butter for a couple bucks, and make a ton of sandwiches. More of a "broke food" that stuck around (kind of like avocado toast, which is apparently trendy now that rich people think it's a status symbol or something; which it's not) than anything "gourmet."

I think it's one of those things that kids love, 'cause it's sweet, and then since they grew up on it (from mums sending them to school with it, or making it as an afternoon snack), they continue to enjoy it as adults, and maybe have some fond memories of eating it as a kid. ;)

Heck yes! PB&J, chips, and milk are the holy trinity of childhood summertime snacks.

It took beaucoup d’années for me to get used to this combo 😂. And I would've never guessed that you have around 47 ans under your belt! You have a very youthful aura and glow. 🌟

The problem is you don't have good peanut butter or grape jelly in Europe. You need to fly to American and get a real one.

Baked macaroni & cheese. Yum!

Boxed mac & cheese is pretty terrible.

it's not a meal and it's not weird! it's just you being French that's weird so stick to your frogs legs and camembert

Omg, listen, I understand that you don’t have some of the same ingredients that we have here in the US, but you cannnot take any random peanut butter, especially from France, and pair it with just any grape jelly.

You actually need US ingredients in order to have the US experience, and that requires a few specific things, one of which, I even discovered an upgrade to, which is the bread.

This is a flavor combination that, not one single person who I have had try it, has been able to not only deny it, but stop themselves from making sounds of enjoyment as they eat it.

Here is the list:

-First and foremost: JIF Brand Peanut Butter. Not sure if you can get it in France with food customs and shit, but this is essential.

-Welch’s or Smucker’s Brand grape jelly (not jam, but specifically jelly and specifically grape).🍇

-Instead of some random sliced bread, use a Thomas’s Brand English Muffin (may not be available anywhere other than the US, I don’t know).

And what you do is split and lightly toast the English muffin, not a lot, just enough to lightly brown the edges, but what comes next is one of the most important steps…

You MUST apply the PB while it’s still hot from being toasted. The remaining residual heat will melt the PB. The reason why this is important is because, PB is an oil based food, and when oil is hot, it is better able to spread flavors across your tastebuds. Think of it as increasing the flavor of the sandwich by almost double, maybe even triple (I’ve never enjoyed PB&J as much as I do now with this recipe and I’m now 46yo and can’t stop eating them, I have at least 1 every day. Also need to hit the gym daily as a result.

Also, there’s no need to use tons of PB, 2 regular tablespoons or one heaping spoon maximum and spread it to create a nice coating of PB.

Next: Do the same with the jelly for the other half of the muffin.

Then: Combine the two open faces of each half to create the sandwich.

Enjoy, but be careful, now that the PB is melted, it will drip out the opposite side from where you bite, so you have to constantly lick the opposite side and perimeter of the muffin, to gather up the delicious liquid goodness around the edges.

I guarantee you, you will understand m uch better after this, why Americans rave about PB&J, because it is a flavor combination that not even a Michelin starred Chef can’t deny, it’s just one of those discoveries that the human brain just goes crazy for. Savory, sweet, soft, moist, and chewy, but crispy and crunchy all at the same time.

If you ever get a chance, please try this, you may need to come to the US to do it tho, but I promise you that you’ll enjoy it, at least way more than you did with what you ate in this video.

Most people don’t eat chips with it. It’s mostly a breakfast sandwich
