Excellent advice. Me and my band are now booking our first set of shows after recording our debut album. It’s not easy after the whole covid nightmare and having to go up against every other band trying to book gigs but we’re getting there.

Thank you so much for this wonderful advice Lindsay! I'm following your advice to the letter - I set up my YT page, then started contacting local pubs and cafes, open air markets etc. My first gigs are coming up this summer (all COVID safe), thanks to you and Marty for teaching me (and all of us) so much!

Pro not too good to venture outside of your genre.
Had a buddy who had a metal doomish. He was playing his own bday party when a guy asked him if he would do a wedding, with traditional wedding songs....butterfly kisses, forever young, some chicken dance. He said "hell nah, I'm not selling out". But his bass player and drummer wanted the money. So they found a guitarist to do the gig with them. Long story short, "the 5th groomsmen" has been a high demand wedding band for over 20 years now. They make an ok always eat for free

Great advive, Lindsay! Having that video available is so easy these days with all the tools we have now. One of my favorite things has been following other musicians that book their own shows to see what clubs they play that may be open to booking acts. Especially when it comes to out of town gigs.

Just do it the PunkRockWay!
Run on stage with your drinking buddies, which you call a band. Beat up the BritPopBand that plays at the moment and take over their instruments. Then force as much distortion on the amp as possible and play "My War" by "Black Flag", over and over again! 🤘🏼
