I have a softener purchased at Home Depot. I bought it in 2005. Works perfectly. Our wateris really nice. Admission: I have worked in the water conditiong business for nearly 30 years. I re-bedded the unit in 2018. I have cleaned the injector about a dozen times, and replaced the turbo once. I have been very happy with this unit.When I was in the business I replaced these units (Sears/Kenmore) many times and replaced them with an Autrol. I had no idea these units were as good as they are. Very easy to service. Not bad!

Hey Gary I believe we're all sold on replacing Kinetico with Hum Chemical Free water Softner. We have 5 people in our home with iron / sulfer in the water (approx. 5 Microns). Which Hum and Brine tank do you recommend? We want to place an order this coming Monday!!

Whats the difference between water softners that set gallons used versus hardness of water?

I have noticed some water softners do not have the option to set water hardness levels. You have to calculate the water hardness and then enter the total gallons.

Having a water softener for about 7 plus years we are now having issues and paying for parts to get it operating correctly. Not know too much about softeners we contacted pretty much the only water softener dealer in town and purchased a Hague 96 Maximizer. In talking with the technician, I was informed that there are better (of course there is always better) softeners out there that cost less. What good quality water softener do you recommend to last longer than 10 or 15 years with out breaking the bank? I live here in the most southeast area of California were our water comes from the Colorado River and then is treated by our City water department with the minimum state required regulations. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

From what I read, it has a separate activated carbon and resin chamber. What are the pros and cons of my unit? And how often do I need to replace the activated carbon in it?

Where are you located? I am from northern Illinois but I am coming to the Toronto and Montreal area soon. Do you have a store that I could buy from?

My fear is water pressure drop. I have 4.5 bathrooms two dishwashers in my home. The water line into our home is 1” into a 5/8 meter then 3/4 line. Water pressure at the meter is 80 psi but at the master shower the pressure or volume is already borderline low.

I build custom homes and run 1” lines to 1” meters and then 1” main run with a 1/2 return circulation system. Off the main line I run 3/4 propex to 1/2 valves. This seems to make a big difference on multi valve showers.

But my home I purchased and it was 30 years old. So re plumbing doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Wondering what system would be least likely to drop pressure.

Ahhh out water hardness(CaCO3) is 404 mg/liter at the moment and Heterotrophic Plate Count over 3000 cfu/1ml. Sould show the video of you to the people that does our water filtration since they dont seem to know what they are doing. Also out water smells like rotten egg, could it be the Heterotrophic Plate Count? Or maybe bacteria in the plumbing? We have 3 filters and an uv light, replacing filters every 3 months, we have borehole water. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. ❤

Is HUM NSF 44 certified? Are all of the components made in the USA or is the head made in USA and tanks made in China, like a lot of companies do.

Appreciated this video and would like to replace my big box store softener at some point. Is it realistic to also soften sprinkler water or is the volume just too great? I have calcium buildup on brick siding that seems near impossible to remove.
