Fr it's almost like he doesn't KNOW how to show care the normal/verbal way yet he still tries-

Like he acts like he doesn't care about Sumeru and everything yet he goes behind the academia's back and starts a whole ass prison break and starts an entire riot-

And with Kaveh's backstory dropped, wr see even more of Alhaitham's personality too. (I still find it funny how much lore we get on Kaveh through Alhaitham's story and lines and how much info we get on Haitham through Kaveh's)

Like.. it turns out that Kaveh feels so undeserving of any form of love or kindness and he blames himself to the point that he'd leave Alhaitham if he didn't act the way he does now, cuz he'd feel like he's taking advantage of Alhaitham.

This just shows EVEN MORE that Alhaitham cares, he wants Kaveh to STAY. But he doesn't really know how to approach him without scaring him off by showing care, which is kinda good because as we can see, again, Alhaitham seems like he doesn't know how to express care the "normal" way.



What I love even more is on how it turns out we only get the full picture of Alhaitham's personality through Kaveh's lines, they're literally completely intertwined with eachother somehow

My friend is similar, when I first met them at the Akademiya they weren't making any effort to interact with the other students so as their senior I tried to be friends with them. Even though they're a bit of a dick they are sweet in their own way and we're still friends even after graduating. So yeah that's why I don't see Alhaitham as completely emotionless.

honestly, I was surprised after Kaveh and Al-Haitham came out, they are very closely connected with each other, without some replicas of Kaveh, we would not even know half of the information about Al-Haitham !! :)

Honestly from what I noticed he's half and half XD
As seen here he can be kind, he just doesn't know how to express it.

However sometimes he really does straight up ignore or belittle people feelings on purpose, not because he doesn't know how to act (and that wasn't only with Kaveh, now that Kaveh is out most people focus only on how he treats Kaveh to analyze his behavior, but he was always like that even with NPC)

I don't think Al Haitham is a horrible person obviously, he does care and he understand that most people obviously have them, he might look like a bad person when he's with Kaveh but he does show he cares.

Depending on what you do on the event where Kaveh destroy the crown you can find Al Haitham comforting Kaveh in his own way and even tease him a bit in a friendly way when the truth about his father is known and Kaveh feels a bit sad.

However Al Haitham being aware of people feelings also kinda makes him not that good either because he purposely ignore them and even make it worse instead of trying to console them if what they are doing is caused by suffering and just needing someone that would talk to them and comfort them.
Al Haitham instead refused to do it despite he knew very well that it would have been safer.

Now it probably doesn't make sense but the point is that while he isn't completely bad he still needs a bit more of character development, not like changing his personality, just being eventually more open to not purposely make a person feel worse when emotionally they don't need that, he knows it but he still ignores it.
