How I make EDUCATION VIDEOS

How do I make my math education videos??? In this behind the scenes video I walk through the technology, the philosophy and my general view on making math videos for my students and for YouTube.

On the tech side, I use greenscreens overlayed over a powerpoint presentation filled with math equations and graphics. I'll talk about everything you need in terms of hardware to make all of this possible and the software which is where the real magic happens. I try to tell a story in my videos, minimizing cognitive load and showing as opposed to just telling. My videos are part of a larger learning process.

Some (nonaffiliate, nonsponsored) links:

Hardware:

Software:
Powerpoint for the presentation
MATLAB for the math equations
Premier Pro for the video editing
OBS for screen recording

Thanks to @mwesch for inspiring me to make this video, he is also a prof doing great work on youtube:)

I think if I had your videos back in high school, I would've gotten an A in Calc 3. I retook the course in university and easily got an A+ because I was able to fundamentally understand the concepts as opposed to memorizing formulas and methods. Thank you so much!

This video is really impressive. I am a math teacher and I have always had this ambition to make my lessons attractive through videos. But I didn't know how to go about it. Through this video I have just found not only the solution to my problem, but also a mentor who will support me in my project.

That was cool. It's really remarkable how high quality "home" content can be now. Anyone of your videos would have been a massive production 20-30 years ago.

I've thought about doing videos on subjects I'm learning just because teaching seems to be a very effective may to learn a subject. Being able to explain a concept concisely with simple language really shows that you understand a subject.

Thanks professor. I think you forgot on the description to mention about that remote control in your hand. I’m trying to make videos on computer languages but I’m a slow typist. All your videos are very useful for a computer programmer. Thanks again.

Great video with great suggestions 👍🏼
I have one hint, a good lavalier microphone (wired is better and much cheaper in my experience) will prefect your videos 😉
