As someone who was there to watch both, Metallica kicked ass and Gnr would have if not for Axle being a major pain in the ass. I feel bad for Slash who is one of the best guitarists ever having to put up with him. GNR missed out on so many great years and potentially great albums

It’s honorable how Metallica never made excuses for the short performance and never covered for axle roses nonsense. Shows that Metallica was there to play for their people and Guns N’ Roses messed up bad. I’m sure axl was maybe having vocal problems but it’s the way you handle the audience that matters and they didn’t step up to the plate, almost like they were angry and afraid of the crowd

The GNR disappearing off the face of the earth quip hasn’t aged well but it’s mad to believe that it was true at the time. There was a long period from the mid 90’s to early 00’s where Axl seemed to be reclusive!

In Axl's defense, he wasn't the only one with monitor problems. Others in the band couldn't hear themselves that night. But the guys are right about GNR almost being erased, with the riot shows, Slash and Duff leaving in 1994, and Chinese Democracy not being released until 2008. At the end of the day, which of these bands was more professional? Metallica has always been the touring machine. Guns, not so much.

At the end of the day both Guns N' Roses & Metallica are the two biggest bands to come out of the 80's . both sell out almost every show haha . and both are high demand . they both put on the best shows you'll attend.

For all you bitching about the “history erased Guns N’ Roses” comment, this was in the late 90’s during the wilderness years. They didn’t have a resurgence in popularity until the early 2000’s, and they were actually cooler before they became popular again.

I’m so sick and tired of everyone solely blaming Axl for this incident. I’ve seen interviews from Axl, Slash and Duff about this incident and they all said it was THE WHOLE BANDS decision to leave. They couldn’t hear themselves and eventually called it quits. Axl was just the one who made the announcement. So it was everyone in gnrs fault, not just Axl.

Metallica except lars hated GNR especially Axl way before they toured with each other. So it's no surprise they were talking shit about them.

It was the other way around in Jakarta, indonesia. The metallica concert in 1993 was a chaos, not because of the band itself but lots of people couldn't come in to the stadium because they didn't have tickets. GnR should have a concert in jakarta too, couple of weeks after that, but because of that incident their concert had been cancelled

It's 2018 now, and Guns N Roses are more popular than ever. Axl, Slash and Duff have the fourth highest grossing tour of all time and its not even over yet. GNR has billions of views of youtube so it's safe to say no one has forgotten about the band.
