Hi. For essay-based subjects like history or English, do you know any reason why examiners might mark incorrectly?

I am going to get a remark but I honestly don’t understand why I was given such a low mark compared to how my answers are (looking at the scripts) and the mark scheme?

When you have your A-levels remarked, does one examiner look over all your papers for a subject or do multiple examiners remark it?

Also, technically speaking, could a remark go wrong again and could you remark it a second time?

For history, the mark scheme for the top band is between 17-20 marks. What would happen if an examiner marked you at 17/20 for a question but then when getting a script back your teacher said that it should be 18/20 not 17/20? It would fall into the same band according to the mark scheme but one mark would make a difference since I’m one mark off an A*.

Since history is subjective, how would it be decided if the answer was worth 17 or 18 marks/20?

I’m 6 marks off in my geography paper from an A. Since it’s a pretty high amount I’m not sure if it’s even worth considering?

I was 1 mark off an A* in my Physics A-level do you think the remark has a high chance of changing things? Cause my physics board is WJEC so it has this comprehension thing on one of the papers for 20 marks and overall quite a few wordy questions

I got a D in alevel English language however to get a D you needed 130 marks this year (out of 500) versus 286 for a C. I scored 179 and I’m so unsure of what to do because whilst I could get onto a university course I want to do next year with that and my other grades, I don’t want that grade to affect my likelihood of getting into an apprenticeship/course in the future. If anyone has any advice I’d be so grateful!

I’m 3 marks away from an A. Is it worth getting a remark? I’m 30 marks clear of a B right now.

I’m 2 marks from an A which I need for my course and I don’t think I’ll drop below a B. If I do get a remark should I get my worst paper remarked ?
