most consumers wont even hit 2.5GB let alone 10GB ethernet.

Personally, I'd much rather have the Thunderbolt ports than 10G ethernet.

There's one other problem it seems - the board doesn't have a Thunderbolt pass-through. From what I understand, this means we can only use Thunderbolt with the iGPU and not a discrete card.

There's no 10G ethernet because these are quite expensive and quite hot as well. Board is already packed so much they started to offload things off it. And it's already expensive beyond reason.

I loved the Asus gaming family of ITX boards from the second they arrived. I have the Maximus VII ITX, the Strix Z390-i Gaming and now the Strix Z790-i. I don-t like that they moved the soundboard in the hive and from there you have to connect all the audio devices. I like the idea of connecting the headset in the hive but the main audio system i prefer to connect it in the back of the mainboard. The other thing that botheres me is that it seemes to me that the board is made in a hurry...there are some compatibility issues/ some things to be corrected in bios. My system freezes from time to time and becomes unresponsive till i hold the power button and turn off. For the price that is now....it should be better.

I did a Build with this Board, and i9 13900k with RTX 4090.

My only issue is that it doesn’t have HD Audio plug in the MOBO. So you have to use the Strix Hive dial that comes with it if you use Microphones for streaming and stuff.

Everything else is great. 4 USBC Ports, 2 of them Thunderbolt ports. 64gb Ram slots, multiple RGB header plugs as well. Dual M.2 NVME SSD sandwich on top of each other (no longer underneath the board).

The video turned out to be fantastic, keep it up. 🙂

Yep, that's why I haven't moved to Mini ITX. At this price point 10gb LAN should be included.

The hive would have been nice to include an HDMI port on it. I like the concept of having like an umbilical cord that goes from your pc and brings all your IO to your desk. Would be great for standing desk and mobile set ups

Answer to Your question is heat mate, if You've had Aquantia 10 gbe chip on that little board, it would require another doohickey thingie there to cool it, not enough space, so that's the answer. The infamous Intel I225-V which most likely occupies this motherboard [I have it too, just still in box] is also running hot [its controller], but it can be side cooled by VRM heatsink. And that's that.

9:36 It would have been nice if a more intuitive Hive connection was possible with a C to C cable.

I put a 10Gb Ethernet in my router and WoW it gets HOT! 2.5G is much cooler. I imagine that the MB has the same problem. If proart series was ATX I would expect it.

@tech notice - I watched this video 80x’s lol pre post and during the build. Very informative. Thank you for the confidence and guidance

$470 is way too much for an itx board. ASRock Z790 PG-ITX/TB4 at $350 is a better alternative.

It's also missing a front panel audio header.

It has thunderbolt, you can use adapters to get every speed youd want!!

what about the cpucooling options? there aren't many that will fit...?

So I just bought this motherboard a 13900k and the gigabyte AORUS waterforce aio cpu cooler. Now I'm worried I won't fit! Also worried it won't be enough cooling being only 280mm 😟

Can you put 96 gigs of ddr5 on this board?

I would say I agree with you about the missing 10G ethernet but that is a expensive add on and then the board would be $600, though I feel for the price they are asking it should be included. I would also say not many people would use it. At least you can add it via the usb4 port.
