The Russian Ruble is doing well, according to Russia's self reported data.

What a rubbish. I really liked your vids but this short shows how limited your research is.

The December oil embargo and price cap from EU and G7 created a gaping budget deficit in Russia that in January alone bypassed planned (and already out of scope for Ru) annual deficit that accounted military time expenses

The isolation of Ru financial sector and loss of trust and investor cred cut Ru of from required capital flow and investments needed

Much of 2022, Ru imports (critical compliments in agriculture, IT, weapons tech, etc) were cut off much more than exports (oil and gas) which created abundance of foreign cash that couldn't be utilized inside of russia, making it less valuable, ergo Ruble costing more. If you know few things about economy, you'll get at least two takeaways from this import/export disbalance: 1) ru economy is hurt long time because of lack of foreign tech and supplies (which ru completely depends on in most important sectors and doesn't have own tech pretty much in anything); 2) complete isolation of their financial sector which makes value of ruble basically virtual - their central bank can make their currency worth any number they want. To understand the latter, think about trading a stock on really low volume when nobody else is allowed to trade it - good intuition is pump & dump scheme

Additionally, trying to divest from western currency and stocks for their reserves, they switched to Chinese currency which 1) dropped in price over last year, wiping out about 10% of their reserves (or what's left of it in Fund of National Wealth) 2) tied them to a currency that's not fluently traded in the world and ties ru economy to authorization of any large deals from Chinese central bank

Yeah, good state of ruble. If you're so sure about it, put your money where your mouth is and invest in ruble. If you even can

That’s because their idea of sanctions is so lightweight, it’s not worth worrying about.

**BIG LIES** Russia's currency is artifically propped up. And the Ruble is low right now

On what timeframe is the ruble "one of the best performing currencies in the world"? It's down from the start of the year, down from the start of 2022, down from 2021?

If going form 50 rubles per dollar to 80 rubles per dollar in less than a year means strong. Then yes, ruble is a rock.

It's not about the ruble or GDP. Russia has billions of foreign currency reserves that they can use to keep the stock market afloat. What matters is that price of food has doubled in Moscow. Cars are 5 times more expensive. Russia can't get advanced electronics to repair and modernise equipment. They are going into debt. The drop in Russian oil and gas has given India cheaper energy to undercut and outcompete Russia's own manufacturing industry. Economies under stress receive lots of government support that includes buying up currency to prevent inflation. So yes, the sanctions are hurting. It's just hard to see it.

It also helps that Russia is steamrolling Ukraine, regardless of how much help the latter gets from America.
