I lost hope for this country when Sandy Hook happen and people called it a Hoax. Kinda even hard to debate.

This is so sad to me. I was NEVER taught to treat people differently. My parents said to me and reinforced all the time growing up that people are not a color, they are a soul and heart. I too, have reinforced to my children the same thing and they will teach their children the same way of life. Black lives DO matter. Prayers to the family and I so hope this young beautiful man gets well fast. In Gods name I pray.😔

Now how do u explain 7 shots on someone's back at close range and remember an unarmed person??? There is definitely no explanation for such an act 🤷‍♂️

The problem is that America trains cops to react like Barney Fife rather than Andy Griffith.

I have cops in my family and yet, we still teach our children to not call 911 unless there’s a fire.

It breaks my heart to see this happen again. It infuriates me to hear friends deny the systemic issue of racism that we have in this country. They deny the existence of white privilege. How do we solve this?

Take the police officers involved Pensions to pay the lawsuit that will surely follow instead of the tax payers money.

Jon Meacham's countenance shows his anger and his empathy. It shows his heart. For people. For country.

It's been 29 1/2 years since Rodney King! Over those nearly three decades, untolled persons of color have been profiled, stopped and frisked, beaten, had life choked and suffocated from their being, been shot while unarmed, often as in this most recent case shot in the back. Not to mention incarcerated in numbers far too skewed to be justified or tolerated.

Tens of thousands died gruesome deaths in a Civil War to end slavery. In the 89 years between the end of the Civil War and the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, black Americans could serve and die for their country in far off lands and world wars, yet they endured punishing systemic racism and segregation at home.

The Civil Rights Movement was just that, a movement. Created in a moment when sufficient numbers of Americans of every race said, "Enough!" We find ourselves in much the same circumstance today.

In the midst of dual health and economic crises, ever increasing inequalities and persistent systemic racism in society, including in law enforcement, many Americans are becoming increasingly fed up with the situations and so-called "leaders" who've guided us to the most polarized point in American history since brother fought brother on bloody fields like Bull Run, Shiloh, Antietam, Gettysburg and Vicksburg. Battles that defined the strife of a nation and determined the outcome of the Civil War.

This country has been sitting on a powder keg with a lit fuse for 155 years. Real societal, law enforcement and criminal justice reforms must finally and irreversibly take hold. If not, I fear for our brothers and sisters, our society, our country and our democracy.

I would be so afraid for my sons, husbands, fathers if they were born black in the lottery of life.

Do you suppose that anyone will actually bring charges against that officer? I suspect he'll skate without having to account for his horrible actions.
