Here is a Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 140 HP 6-speed manual vs my Dacia Duster 1.5 Blue dCi 115 HP. Both seems to be having a Haldex traction system, but the Skoda out performed the Duster (my opinion). What do you think? comment below!

Nu mai chinuiti masinile in offroad cu cauciucuri de iarna dedicate de strada, acestea nu au fost concepute sa aibă performante bune in offroad, sunt limitate! Le puteți folosi in offroad dar in combinație cu niște lanțuri iar rezultatele vor fi mult mai bune!

I think driver and suspension and drive train make some differences. There are variation in gear box ratio, which leads in speed, power and inertia discrepancies, the Dacia 4x4 ratio are very short in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Then suspension is a critical in low adherence, my guess is the Dacia is modded with stiffer and the Skoda has original. Also winter condition better to maintain egal down force on all wheels, and therefore better soft suspension and air down tires down to 1bar (if ok). Then the clutch dampening system or the motor software may play a role in inducing rotational irregularities and higher levels of vibration in the powertrain that may lead in lost of grip. So avoid aged clutch keep it heathly. And tuned up motor are not always the best solution. Wheel spin is a clear indication of delicate driving condition, imho better fit snow chains to avoid troubles.

Great to see what these cars can do. As octavia scout driver 99% of my driving is on tarmac getting up to 60mpg but crossing fields and rough tracks never been stuck once and great in snow, I only run winter tyres

imi place ca ala cu skoda are 2.2 in anvelope si are pretentia sa si urce . Nu mai da asa in skoda aia ca ai turbina pe duca. SKODA POWER !!

You should know that VAG is using Haldex, Dacia use the Nissan system which works slightly different. In "lock mode" with better power distribution between front and rear, in "auto mode" with worse distribution.

WHY haven´t you adopted the Scout´s tire pressure for better comparison??? 0, 5 bar make a clear difference, much more than different tire brands.


At 11:00 you see that the "electronic brake diff lock" is nothing else than a cheap helper 🥶. In this kind of situations nothing beside a mechanical (rear) diff lock (such as ARB) will work properly. I always wondered why you haven´t upgraded your Duster after your comparison winter test with Cosmin´s locked Duster. Saying this I admit that I´ve not tested the "double haldex" on latest Golf VIII R which - in theory - could provide even better controlled power distribution.
As a remark: For the VAG Haldex 4wd there are 3rd party 4wd-locking controller (up to 50:50 torque distribution) available which helps quite a bit.

How can you think the Skoda performed better? The Skoda is too heavy and it's wheelbase is too long to use it's drivetrain properly. Better tires would help too.

Ja ima Skodu Scaot baš za losijeg puta i nove Tigar gume 225 50 17 ma ide uz masan dirjek..A inače imam E klasu 2015 god!ovaj mi vozač Skode nije jasan ili je malo jebe namjerno 👍

2 tractoriști pe care îi întâlnim si pe drumurile publice. Mai bine rămâneți la scurmat in țărână. Mașinile alea sunt prea bune pentru voi.

Non of these two has differential blocking. There are only few carmakers who use pure mechanical 4x4 with differential self blocking - Subaru, Alfa Romeo and Audi in Allroad models

Asa ca pt un show bun test..daca e sa privim pt scopul pt care au fost fabricate cele doua masini este total anapoda acest test..numa romanul poate gindi ca daca Rolls Royce are 4x4 atunci sigur poate sa-l compare cu un Nissan patrol prin offroad 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣..bine ca nu ai luat o Octavia cu 1.6 mpi😂😂😂
