Hopefully The Final Shape being delayed means more time to focus on making it a good expansion! This also happened with Beyond Light!

My heart goes out to the poor employees who were fired.

They should have maintained as a independent studio. I knew the corporate greed of Sony ownership would eventually reflect negatively on them as a studio.
(Sad indeed)

Oh come on.... tf are they going to do with a 7 month season? They can hardly fill a 3 month one.

I feel so bad for the employees that got laid off, their tweets about the situation really broke my heart. I wish them all the best of luck. ❤️❤️❤️

They're laying off Art and Marketing? Those are two out of the three departments that give it their all with every expansion!

We have been joking about it for all these years, but this might actually be the begining of the end for destiny, and maybe even bungie. Letting go of these employees is horrible all around. These people lose thier livelihoods they need to survive, Bungie loses hands they need to make good content, and we the players will inevitably suffer because the quality of the content will decline becuase theres less love and attention put into it. This really makes me concerned for the season before the final shape and the dlc itself. We cant have another lightfall, and we cant have a 6 to 7 month long season. Destiny will die if either one happens. It already has problems retaining players during content droughts. All around its a bad day for bungie fans, supporters, and employees.

Thoughts going out to all the bungie employees who have been let go of. Can't begin to imagine how hard it must be for them. So many good people let go seemingly out of nowhere.

This really is sad people who were (hopefully) passionate about the game have been let go and we suffer with them for the delays and that we lost them

Bungie and disarray, name a better duo. Firing Michael Salvatori is such a head scratcher. The OST's in Destiny are one of the few things that always have been done well. It definitely seems like Destiny might be coming to an end after Final Shape and it's episodes. It's crazy to think that Bungie split with Activision because of corpo bs and they turned around a few years later and sold themselves to Sony just to deal with corpo bs again.

I am devastated for all employees.

The most impact on me had Salvatori and Sechrist. The two that made a big part of the Destiny Soundtrack up to now. As someone who identifies through music and sees the Destiny Soundtrack as pinnacle, this really hurts

Tbh, i think Sony needs to keep their corrupt hands out of other studio's walls. Before Bungie was taken over by Sony, they were basically thriving. Sony needs to stop ruining studios.

Man I was already planning on making final shape be the last destiny DLC I ever play (mainly because I want to just see the light and dark saga end and yes I'm aware that it won't end after final shape but it feels fitting for me as a destiny 1 veteran) and now hearing this... feels like destiny 2 is hanging from a cliff.

Kinda makes me wish Bungie were still working for microsoft (albeit if they did then microsoft might place them back on the Halo development train which in itself would have negative effects on bungie who insisted that they didn't want to make another Halo game)

To make things worse... the lead composure for the OST of Destiny, Michael Salvatori, was just confirmed to be laid off too. It's such a dark time for the franchise and it's hard to say where things are going to go from here.

Update (October 31st 2023): ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! They just let go of Michael Sechrist, the composer for Deep Stone Lullaby. Fucking the game is dead now... holy fucking shit 😢

Hopefully the seasonal events will be entertaining and they could extend then a week or 2 longer...the Dawning could be the start to that trial

I'm both worried and optimistic that this will lead to better things. I do really feel bad for those who are losing their jobs. Also a 7 month season is going to suck!

Best composer we ever had… since myth, since halo etc. He is irreplaceable 😢
