I was born deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other. My cats (we have four) will approach me on my HoH side and meow loudly. And if I don't acknowledge them, they'll gently touch me with their paw. We never taught them this, it was just something they figured out on their own. (the lamest thing about losing my hearing is that I can't hear the cats purr anymore, unless I put my head on their bodies).

My daughter's cat could "target" her purrs at me or my daughter. It was really funny. We would both be in the same room, but we could tell who she was purring to. And she had so many different kinds of meows and other vocalizations. It was like a real conversation.

My elderly cat trills or chatters sometimes when he sees me come in the room; it's like he's saying hello. He also has many ways of non verbal showing of love, like laying on my chest and placing his paw on my cheek. It's very sweet.

I have had cats all my life, so am familiar with all these noises. Teddy (a neutered ginger Tom), chirps and chatters at the birds out the window every morning! His meows are amazing, and they have context! He answers me, and they have tone and inflection. Sooo cute!

We took in a stray cat. He didn't do any kind of meows. I assume he had forgotten to do so, tho he was very friendly with us. He did do a yowl-hiss when he was upset. He did it one time when my dad was gone and he wanted to be with someone, so came into my room doing that as he was upset and wanted to be with me. He wasn't angry. He was welcome to come in and he curled up with me.

My favorites are purring and chirping. Or when they are calling out and it sounds like they are saying “hello”

My cat sighs a lot when he's disgruntled, like when I stop paying attention to him and he's not done getting attention yet. My cat also caterwauls, but he's a fixed male. He usually does it after I'm gone for longer than he chooses and runs from the other room to come "yell" at me, or if he's doing what people call "the greyhound run" around the house 😸
Thank you for another video, I always learn new things and it's great to share with my friends so they learn too!

When I had my Red Persian cat Sasha, she went into heat and let out a caterwaul. Even after she was spayed she did it.
My favorite is the purr. Every cat 😺 has its own purr.
Sasha had a whispering purr.
Carol had a high pitched trilling purr.
My cat Tiger-J has a rumbling purr 😻.

When my tuxedo cat came to live in my house, I never bothered to find out if it was a male or female. It was here temporarily, for a couple of weeks during Spring Break. That was the first time I heard a "caterwaul." It scared the beejezus out of me! I swear I thought that poor cat was dying! I rushed to the nearest vet, they explained the feline birds and bees. I found out she's a she the hard way. That was eleven months ago. I guess she's here to stay.

I hear most of the trilling from my female black kitty but her brother whose an orange tabby is the most vocal with the long merowels and the louder meows. He gets a little temperamental and makes a sound like he’s doing a long drawn out “no” with his mouth closed. It’s usually when he’s on his back and wants me to give him my arm for his bunny kick time. He’s a big orange fruit case, and he just does wacky stuff while his sister looks at him like he’s a dork. 😉😂🤣

Our cat Pippa doesn’t make much noise. She will meow once in a while, but does purr loudly! Our other cat Tilly is very vocal and meows and trills constantly! It’s fun to see how different cats are!

I have conversations with my cats all the time. I know what sounds they like\mimic the meowd they give me. Both my gals love it. They are quite happy.
The chats are trilliing\chirping with a higher pitched meow.
The gals also sit right on our chests, faces basically just about minimal touching. Opening our eyes to a cat, right there, in our face. They are sweeties.

I make a "im not pleased" moan.... One of my gals do it too now. She also snores. She is also 18\19. Her brother was put to sleep a couple months ago, old age, she is having some struggles. We try to help her.

You just reminded me 🤭 I was in Italy visiting family/sightseeing etc. Apparently "Italian cats" don't say "meow", they say "mao". Yes, there's no "W" in the Italian alphabet, even so, I think it would still be "mao"😄 It's interesting how, even we humans, can hear the same thing yet interpret it differently!😸

I understand most of them.
My cats own me. They're my bosses.

My cat mostly purrs and chirps. She will occasionally meow especially if she wants to be fed or she can't find me 🙂
