The largest change for most users will be migrating to non-Google. Also, FDroid and Aurora can be installed on ANY Android device. Get them running now and start using non-google services. You can even go as far as logging out of Google on your Android devices and just using these two app stores. You don't need a custom ROM to improve your Android device.

When Librem 5 becomes more stable it will also be a good alternative. Featuring hardware switches and a pure GNU-Linux OS. The only thing that prevents me from leaving the Google ecosystem is its maps app; though purchasing a dedicated GPS for the car would remedy that. Convenience over security for me at the moment when I'm out and about. At home, is where privacy is more important to me.
