Hey Louis. You and FUTO shoud really discuss S.686, otherwise known as the RESTRICT Act. While it has good intentions, it is pulling a patriot act 2.0 and essentially gives the US government sole authority to deem any software on a device a threat, and in position to be seized, likely without a warrant.

Also using GrapheneOS. One of the best phone Operating Systems I've used. Easy Google app integration without letting them have your data, same functionality but much more privacy and security. It's a shame the project isn't supported on other phones, I would like to see this on fair phone. But if Google makes phones with better security hardware than I can't argue. The operating system actually makes that hardware relevant. Whatever Google is doing is a joke.

I saw your video when you first went to GrapheneOS, I was really impressed and continued to look into it and when my wife got a new phone I joined with her and grabbed a Pixel 7. After 2 months I have really enjoyed using Graphene, feels great to manually turn on a microphone when taking a call, or turning on the camera when I want to take a picture- because it means it wasn't running in the background.

I only run google play services (GPS) in a burner profile, which I use exclusively for shitty apps, that are shitty because they break if there are no play services.
That profile is at rest when I don't use it, so GPS doesn't run when it does not need to.
I kid you not, I revoked every. single. permission. GPS has, and it still works fine. GPS does not even have network permissions, yet notifications still work.
The day I have to return to a stock os will be a dark day.

I really think the team should partner up with 'Nothing', who have an unlocked phone. If the next Nothing phone 2 came with Graphene OS tailoured to it's hardware that would be a compelling purchase.

Canada’s 2023 Federal budget explicitly mentions creating some right to repair act and universal chargers. It could end up being nothing. But it’s nice to see the acknowledgment of these issues

i bought a pixel 6 precicly because of louis rossmann and installed graphine os and its great. very easy to install and works fine. the only thing i didnt get a fix for was the contactless payments but thats for the best really. this project needs to become mainstream.

The best thing about these communities is that people are using the technology because they really like it, not because they are obligated to do so.
