My MS250 from Stihl has one issue I don't like. But the MS250 is one tough chainsaw. Follow along in this video and see for yourself.

The chain speed on the MS250 is faster on start up because it's still on partial choke, getting a richer mixture. I have one of these and always start it with the chain brake on (except when I'm restarting it warm while working). A lot of people have had difficulty with the MS250 on starting because of how the recoil start is made (smaller diameter, that makes it fight against compression). The improved models, have a better recoil start. Mine is the original and I don't usually have trouble starting it. Except last year when the coil failed and that was making it FUN! I start my saw the same way you do by holding it against my legs so that it is controlled. I never got into throw-starting saws. I own four Stihl saws: MS250, MS290 (which is my favorite all around saw), MS291 (that I bought cheap because a guy had it new and didn't like how it was hard to start when hot. It has something to do with the ported design for fuel efficiency. I get around that by letting the saw idle with the brake on if I have to set it down for a minute), and also have an 044 that I bought new in 1995. Cheers Kenny, Be safe out there and watch out for the Sasquatch!!

Stihl es para nosotros la mejor marca de maquinaria forestal. Nosotros tenemos una motosierra profesional Stihl y ahora que termina el verano, tenemos que empezar a hacer leña también 😃💚👍🏻64 +subs

Nice comparison video
My stihls are the same way and definitely something you need to watch out for if you’re not familiar with chainsaws
Thanks for sharing 👍

I have an older 025, I have to agree with you, it's hard to beat for a homeowner/residential power saw. I run the Stihl RS full chisel or the Oregon full chisel, little saw cuts like a champ. I can't begin to imagine how many cord of firewood I've cut with it. It's was my workhorse for many years. Excellent video Kenny. Take care.

Nice demo of the saw buddy pretty impressive No one messed with your cabin can tell it’s been sitting for a while with all the cobwebs goes to show you decent people in your area. 👍

Wood splitter and saw all in one . I don’t remember the size but my Cusin back in the day had a few Stihl saws that did the same thing . Karen made me take half a day off so I’m finally catching up on videos .

Great tips Kenny ! that brake is important safe only works if you use it :) My 445 husky has a bit of a high idle too when you set that choke on so when we start we all have different ways to hold them still the brake is is important, Your just enjoying that little wood heat in the shop :) Take care

Great demo on the Stihl. They sure do run away when they are on fast idle. That is one thing I like about the 5 series Husqvarna Saws. Beautiful cabin and I am glad it was left untouched.

Over 30 years ago my buddy and I built a log cabin and we used a Stihl 250 not sure was MS250 but we worked thst saw hard, cutting, ripping, pinching between logs but it never quit. You would want to hold it between your legs and start it lol
Little cabin like you left it that's a good thing never know these days what people are going to do when they find things.
That's one way to split it, before you cut it lol. Have a great week my buddy.

Good evening Kenny, thanks for the demo and the info. I haven't had any experience with the Sthil chainsaws. Great video. Enjoy your week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
