FDA Authorizes Novavax Vaccine

On July 13, the FDA authorized the Novavax COVID vaccine for adults ages 18 and older. This is a protein-based vaccine, different from the mRNA-based shots produced by Pfizer and Moderna. It's a 2-dose series, administered 21 days apart. When issuing emergency use authorization for the Novavax COVID vaccine, the FDA Commissioner said this offers adults "another option" and encouraged people to get vaccinated. We explain.
