I just replaced rollers for my first time today. It went really smoothly and I used the same way you did in this video, homeowner was really happy with it. Great video!

Watched a lot of videos on roller replacement. I think your method seems the most logical.

However I’m not sure about the weight of my door. It’s a single door for a two car garage.

I’m in SW Florida and the doors here are hurricane rated. What that means is there is a lot of additional steel and brackets. There are four heavy duty horizontal rails to add strength.

I think when I do it I’ll enlist my brother-in-law to assist.

Thanks for the time you donated to us in making your video.

I literally just did mine, it does make a difference. I did a decibel test via an iPhone app and it was at around 78 before and it’s now at 68! No joke you can tell that it’s much quieter.

Just did this today. Your way works great! I watched a few other videos of professional people…pain in the a**. The way you show it is so easy that I was skeptical at first but it was really easy. Took about a half hour. Thanks 👍🏻

For an even quieter door, clean the track with alcohol, acetone, or brake cleaner before changing the rollers. Also, before installing the new rollers, cover the roller shaft with heat shrink tube; it prevents the metal-on-metal rattle and reduces the slop within the bracket.

Watched a few videos on garage door noise(from old rollers) and in this day and age for making things perfect and fitting exactness, the garage door brackets are horribly loose...like up to 1/4"(0.250) slop ! So take that slop multiply it by 10....and unless you got earplugs, you will still hear rattle. Thanks for sharing your video with the public !

Not a custom to taking off tracks to change rollers. But I do see the practicality of doing it your way on a full view door. Or even an insulated door. Great video.

Awesome thanks, they wanted to charge me $900 today.

You forgot to clean off all that old grease from inside the track. Those new rollers will be even quieter if the track is free from grease. Also, lube all of your hinges. Don’t just replace the rollers.

Is there any size door you wouldn’t recommend doing this technique on?

Are the colors of the rollers represent the weight of the door ? Like the springs

Just take the hinges off one by one and replace the rollers. No need to mess around with the track.

Genius, Scott here again. What is the clearance space from the opening to the ceiling in this demonstration? I see the rail is right up against the ceiling inside the garage. Is the garage door fully opened at the top so that the opening isn't encumbered by the door being lower than the header? Would a side mount opener save a few inches? Also (last question), I prefer a 15" radius as opposed to a 12" radius (for no practical reason, but only seems common sense that a wider radius may provide smoother movement.

If you can hear the motor on your ceiling instead of the rollers - your rollers are fine.

was it not necessary to lube shaft before inserting roller?

On average what kind of life have you seen out of these rollers?
