I wish more people would introduce log's as you did where you explain essentially the question that the log function is asking, as that general approach gives an insight about functions (sqrt x asks what number times itself is x, and so on).

Most textbooks and teachers often teach ways to memorize the transformations from exponential to log functions, which kids can memorize but then if you ask them what is log (base 10) of 100 they can't tell you directly it is 2 because they don't understand what logs are actually doing

You should've talked more about applications of logs. That's the coolest part imo. Like how are vision is logarithmic. Other than that, great video! I like the intuitive def better than the usual number shuffling

I just was searching for log2(integer) in Delphi, to find trailing zeros in a binary number. But I didn't find a builtin function and had to implement it in assembler with BSR. I am still missing builting function for Android und iOS. This is another application of your lecture about log2.

For me personally, it's confusing to say that in y = 2^x, x is the exponent and x is the log or logarithm. To me log() is a function or operator, like exp() (or pow()). To me, in y = 2^x, x is the simply the output or result of the function/operator log₂(y), I wouldn't say x IS the log or logarithm.
