I was just re-watching I Love Lucy on Paramount. I have watched the show dozens of times over the years. It is always funny. When I need comforting from stress I Love Lucy is like a warm cup of chicken soup for the soul.

Holy cow, Rick! Lucille Ball was so talented. Contorting her face like that?! I’m amazed. Wow ❤

Rick, also from the "Lucy Learns To Drive" episode, when the get in or out of the Pontiac, pay attention to the upper portion of the door panel where the crew has "powdered" the darker upper portion of the driver's side door to reduce light reflection. When Ricky touches the door, his fingerprints are visible. Regarding glass, in the episode "Never Do Business With Friends" after the washing machine sprays them in the Mertz's kitchen which leads to the fight and ultimately the Ricardos go back to their apartment, Fred slams the kitchen door closed and the glass in the door shatters to the floor. So that was one time where they actually DID have glass on the set!

One of my favorite Vivian Vance scenes is when it's Ethel's birthday & Fred gives Lucy money to buy her a present & Lucy buys those fancy cocktail pants. Superb acting.

I never noticed any of the scenes without the glass and I've been a fan for 60 years. Ty for your entertaining videos. It gets us through horrible times.

Hey Rick, the missing windshield & vent window glass is very obvious, other shows like the Beverly Hillbillies & Green Acres comes to mind. The missing glass in the windows is much more subtle, Lucille Ball's ability to distort her face to give the illusion that she's pressing against glass is brilliant!!! Thanks for sharing this exciting video revealing one of the tricks of Hollywood!!! 👍👍🙂

I love the scene of Lucy and Ethel in the candy factory where they can't catch up and Lucy starts eating the candy. Cracks me up everytime!

I remember an episode of Get Smart where Max's face was pushed in glass and you could see the pancake makeup left behind!

Speaking of the scenes with the Pontiac, have you noticed the headlamps are covered with white poster paper to give the illusion of being illuminated.😮

I knew there was no glass because of glare, but I really thought there was glass in the scene where Lucy scrunches up her face. That’s some great talent! I also always notice in shows that even in the winter, cars always have their windows down. Always makes me laugh. This was great, Rick!😄

Great stuff, as usual, Rick. You definitely have "the eye". On a personal note, I am continuing to hold a good thought for you that you are slowly healing from the loss of your precious "baby". I know how tough it is to lose such a precious gift of love. You never truly get over the loss, but eventually the good memories replace the sad ones, & you end up smiling at those precious memories, instead of letting the mourning process dominate over those precious & irrepraceable memories. All the best to you, as ever.

You showing the scene where she contorts her face made me think back to the movie they did on her life where we find out she was mentored by the great Buster Keaton. I can only imagine what all he taught her to do. And I'd bet the face thing was one of them. Thank you for another great episode.

"Rick nineg" was one of my first subscriptions when I joined YouTube. Early episodes of "Leave It to Beaver" made me realize that the windows on TV series didn't have glass panes. The curtains in the window of the entry of the Clever's first house would always swing in and out of the window frame when the front door was slammed shut. Also, the Clever's cars were frequently driven without the windshields--I think this was the case during the opening for the last season when the Clevers were backing out of the driveway to go on a family picinic.

I remember being a kid and laughing my head off whenever Fred said "I got wind of it." Lots of episodes made me laugh, but that line has stuck with me all these years. I originally watched ILL in the 60's.

It's incredible how many tricks of the trade there are when shooting for TV or a movie. One of my favorites are the silent paper bags. You may notice when an actor is carrying grocery or any type paper bags they barely make a noise because they are made from a material that replicates paper but is almost noiseless. Also, clear silicone ice cubes are used in drink glasses to reduce noise. Most people would be amazed at how many "silent props" are necessary on set when filming.

Yes Lucy was a great show. Good insight on how things are produced.
