Hakeem Olajuwon can get discounted among the great big men in NBA history but on ’The Draymond Green Show,’ Kenny Smith does his best to explain his greatness as a person and a player. He describes Olajuwon as a 6-foot-10 Draymond Green, with Blake Griffin’s athleticism on defense, and a “more athletic” version of Joel Embiid on offense.

Hakeem is so good, he was drafted over Jordan and it was still not considered a mistake that they picked him.

The greatest compliment you could ever give a man in my opinion: “He’s the most honorable man I know”.

Hakeem was probably one of the best all around player to ever play. He was a superstar on both ends of the court.

Kenny is telling the truth...I played football at UH when Dream was in school. He was a year or two younger than I, but the quality of person he is is even greater than his basketball. Good brother!

I always appreciated his game. Michael Jordan once said he was glad the Bulls never played the Rockets in the Finals. Chicago never had an answer for Hakeem.

Hakeem the greatest defensive player of all time. Most underrated player of all time. Often gets left out of the top 10. He was a straight dog. Starting 5 on my all time team and its not even a question.

This man was picked before jordan and isn't considered a bust or a mistake. The Dream to me was the greatest center I've ever seen ....from a disgruntled Knick fan who can't get over the 94 finals.

When Kenny says Hakeem is honorable, not only it speaks to Hakeem's character, but more so Kenny's trust in him. He trusts Hakeem so much that whatever he says, Kenny will believe.

The dream. What an incredible player. Kenny Smith’s description was on point. 6’10” with extremely high athleticism, long arms, and incredible skill. One of the most underrated stars of all time.

This was one of the most unique conversations I’ve heard about Hakeem. Not surprised at all. Great individual all around. HOF, Teammate, Citizen. Example. Great in every aspect. Much respect to MY favorite NBA player of all

I got a first hand experience of hakeem being honorable. When we use to go see the rockets play my mom would drop us off and pick us up after the game. We use to have a spot we'd wait for her after the game a couple of exits away from the summit (the venue) it was an underpass on the exit of the main Freeway. Anyway one day we were waiting and a car rolled down its windows and it was Hakeem handing us a 20 dollar bill. He thought we were homeless lol. We told him we just saw him play, gave him back his money and shook his hand

He played goalie as a youth, learned to track balls flying at or around him PLUS he loved and played handball in tournaments and also learned to track balls bouncing off a wall, and the balls are smaller than baseballs. Which you had to then use ur hands and smack the balls back and forth until one person misses their turn. So his timing was bred in, plus as a youth playing soccer he learned to be insanley nimble with his feet. He's a guard-center, with the absolute best feet for a big and the ability to time every block from his days as a youth. That's why he was different, most bigs never learned to move like that naturally, they had to think, he only reacted.
