As a low elo Kayo main (and temporarily a Raze main back in the day in order to unstuck myself), I tried picking up Gecko but I still never got the hang of it. I think I just focused to much on using my pokemon when I can literally shoot the enemies. But gecko is probably much better that kayo in low elo since you don't have to worry about flashing teammates or telling teammates to look away to which they will all promptly get flashed regardless.

Finally someone that knows how strong Astra is in solo play. Viper cant reposion the wall and orb so I would say she sucks for solo since you are probably the only controller. Astra is the only global impact controller for any all duelist team you might get

Most important thing is to learn the game before the agents. Never use util if you have a chance of hurting the team (flashing them, getting swung and dying, or not in position to trade teammates until you get good at using util.

Im a sova main but i also play yoru and chamber, i don't know why i like only those 3 but every other heros util just feels wierd to me, i guess i like util that doesn't require a lot of thought so you would think id like geeko bc his whole thing is spamming util but i hate playing geeko bc the flash feels so inconsistent compared to yoru, i get full blind killed so often on geeko but yoru it only happens every couple of games
