I met up with Omar from Whole Mars Blog in Los Angeles to compare the latest version of Tesla's FSD (12.5.6.3) versus Waymo. Long story short, the autonomous era has arrived! Although the Tesla did better (Waymo had a 17 minute wait and couldn't go where we wanted), they both crushed it overall. We scheme on a ton of topics from Tesla's 10/10 event to Cybercab to Optimus and of course the whole self-driving car landscape!!

48:22 ASS (Actually Smart Summon)
48:56 Tesla Smoother than Waymo

Disclaimer: We are all long Tesla stock. Nothing in this show is financial advice.

I had to go to LA and back last week to see my dentist. Like 1H driving each way. After getting some serious dental work done, MAN was it nice to have FSD do all the driving home.

I like how it always knows where it’s going. No stress.

It’s true! Driving with FSD is less stressful and more enjoyable. Plus it doesn’t miss the exit!

Thanks Omar for putting your life on the line. I still remember V11 and a few times I thought I was going to crash. The people around me in SF Calif even with Tesla cars back off when my FSD goes crazy. Yes so much more improvements on V12. I looking forward to 13 and greater. What an amazing time we live in. No complaints

Just drove Pennsylvania to west Texas using FSD almost the whole way and it was fantastic.

Great listening to conversation. So many subtle points raised. Enjoyed too driving around LA and seeing the sights.

I imagine in like 7 years or so a lot of work places will just be 20-30 bots doing all the work and two or three dudes either on site or working remotely in haptic suits beaming in to teleoperate a bot whenever it gets stuck or otherwise needs to be "reset" from whatever task it's autonomously doing.

I lived in Pacific Palisades some years ago. It was great to see the old neighborhood again.

36:02 I think it might have been the combination of sun glare on front cam and narrow road.

PCH, WOW. Used to drive it often in the 80's. Frisbee under the seat, for rolling... stuff. Old Grand Dad behind the seat, just in case. Recently drove it in July just to see it now. Unreal! Hardly a moment to relax. Was in a model S, which helped. 12.36.

I am older than you two, and I am a Tesla investor and car owner, and I am thinking when I become unsafe to drive I will be able to keep my car and my independence and freedom.
Thanks Elon 😁

"I don't even have to think about it, I just know it's going to do good" Bro you better be thinking about it because if it f's up it's on you.

It really makes sense to have the bots Teleoperated First, so they can train the bots, just like they do with FSD
So the OG of whatever warehouse or handyMan will train the robot for some time, and than the robot knows what to do based on previous experience.

They actually have showcased the teleoperation for an year almost.

12.5.6.3 is great but there's still edge cases. Freeway coming to halt-fsd brakes hard but rear traffic closing in. Better to disengage and pace traffic down slowly to avoid being rear ended. Happened to me.

From a consumer perspective FSD would be essential as cruse control is today.
