To became a protestant is not the solution. My wife and me were reformed Protestant for many years and even missionaries. We have been finally received in the Catholic Church with our Children. We have peace and joy as we never had before. We recommend to read Scott_Hahn and his wife Kimberly: Rome sweet Home or the Lamb's Supper. They were Presbiterian. They are Catholics now for many years. God bless you all

I'm going to be totally honest -- my life feels so tough right now that I don't have the energy to care about church politics or scandals

Trust God, pray for the Pope and all of the clerics, educate oneself on catechesis, develop a good spiritual life, and not dwell on the news and politics! Better for one’s soul and peace of mind!

I love Ralph Martin. He tells the truth without going off the deep end. A model of prudence.

That’s right. The ordinary Catholic Christian suffering in their pew hears these things coming out of the Vatican and knows they are discordant with the truth. Unfortunately we don’t know how much damage these men are doing.

Thank you, Ralph Martin! We need to remember the truths of the faith. I'm sharing this video.

If one gets scandalous about all that’s happening in The Church then need be is to read the Gospels, and The letters of St.Paul. We can’t be people who ignore the situation but we can’t become scandalous people as well. We must call it out with prudence while holding grounds on the Faith. The Church is perfect the people running it are not. It’s as simple as that

I have to keep reminding myself that *GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL* . So what is God's plan for me each day? I need to get on top of this!

Always a pleasure to hear Dr. Martin. Good work, Matt. Would also like to hear from some West Coast Dominicans. They would be good to share an Aquinas Pint.

Due to scandals we are shown what is wrong, wake up and we will be more careful.

At least in this segment, there is a categorization of those who go along with the scandle, and those who refuse to take scandle and stay close to Christ. It seems there is a sub category of those who take scandal... Who truly believe they are staying close to Christ, but end up in some form of extreme reaction that is also scandal.

Why should Catholics be afraid? Have faith ! Hold strong, hold the faith, fight the good fight!

We are but a spec in the all the history of the Church to God who knows all and the hour.

Interesting how almost all of the growth in the Church during this period of the "New Evangelization" is coming from the Old Evangelization - the TLM.

The Truth is The Word.

How can ANY idea or position or statement that can not stand up to scrutiny, debate or critique be considered Truth?

When the early Church encountered its first doctrinal crisis, as to how much of the Jewish Law Gentile Christians should be required to follow, the Apostles met in Jerusalem to discuss the matter. The “Council of Jerusalem” was the first Ecumenical Council of the Church. This became the established way of resolving doctrinal disputes. When the Roman Empire became Christian, it was accepted that the Christian Roman Emperor was the protector of the Church and he was also considered as Christ’s visible representative on earth, but not in doctrinal matters, only in so far as Christ reigns on earth in a Christian Empire. Doctrinal matters were still decided by an Ecumenical Council. The Emperor would, normally, call such a Council and arrange for safe conduct for all of the Bishops to the place where the Council was to meet and he would provide protection for them, food and accommodation. The Council would then report its conclusions to the Emperor. The Emperor would invite the Bishop of Rome to formally confirm the dogmatic definitions of the Council - that is, he was invited to “confirm his brethren” the role which Our Lord entrusted to St. Peter. It was only after the Great Schism in 1054 that this procedure was altered. The Eastern Church took the view that, by definition, an Ecumenical Council must include all of the Bishops of the Catholic Church. Since the Western Bishops were forbidden by the Western Emperor from attending a Council held in the Eastern Empire, this ceased to be possible after the Great Schism. So, the Eastern Orthodox Churches take the pragmatic view that only the first seven Ecumenical Councils of the Church define binding dogma. They do not accept that the Councils called in the Western Church are in the nature of Ecumenical Councils. This makes life much easier, of course, for Eastern Orthodox Christians. Dogma is now fixed. They do not need to argue about the ordination of women or the “marriage” of those of the same sex. Since these matters are already settled by the Sacred Scriptures and the first seven Ecumenical Councils of the Church, no alteration in such teachings is possible. In the Western Church we have the German Cardinals stating, openly and without contradiction by the Pope, that, while the teaching of the Sacred Scriptures and of the Councils of the Church on homosexuality are clear enough, those teachings are, quite simply, wrong and the Pope has the authority to alter the teaching both of the Sacred Scriptures and of Ecumenical Councils. The Pope has made it perfectly clear that this is his intention. When he met with the Jesuit seminarians in Lisbon the Pope assured them that, since he had altered the Catechism in respect of the death penalty and no one had made any real objection to this, even though the Catechism now denies the teaching of the Sacred Scriptures and of the Council of Trent on the matter, he could just as easily alter the Catechism on homosexuality, so that it now taught that this behaviour was perfectly acceptable, leading the way to the Church endorsing and making provision for same sex “marriage”. The Pope’s comments were recorded, so we do know what his views are. Understandably, Eastern Orthodox Christians look on and laugh at the stupidity of Latin Rite Catholic Christians - they applaud and follow a Pope who openly denies the authority of the Sacred Scriptures and of Ecumenical Councils of the Church. As to suggestions that the solution is to “leave” the Church and become a Protestant, that is absurd. Protestants believe, as definite teaching, that the Catholic Church is wrong in respect of the Eucharist, the position of Our Lady and other essential doctrines. To become a Protestant would be to deny essential and basic teachings of the Catholic Faith. So, it may be that the only way forward is to become an “underground” Catholic. This is what has happened in China. The Pope sent Cardinal MacCarrick, a man of the lowest possible moral character and the most limited ability, to negotiate a Concordat with the Communist Government of China which sets up a “Patriotic Church” which is a body which denies many of the essential teachings of the Catholic Faith. The Pope has ordered Chinese Catholics to abandon the Faith and to join this body, which worships the State rather than Almighty God and which permits agents of the Government to enter Churches and to pull down crucifixes, smash statues and desecrate the Blessed Sacrament (although it might, hopefully, be argued that a “consecration” by a Priest of this new worldly body is not a valid consecration). So, Chinese Catholics, accepting that the Pope has abandoned the Faith and has called upon them to do the same, have formed underground Churches where they continue to practice the Faith in secret, but at great risk to their personal safety. All faithful Catholics need to consider doing the same - we have already seen the “abomination of desolation” set up where it should not be (Pachamamma worshipped by a pagan priestess in the Vatican itself) and the Pope has openly applauded and advanced Cardinals and other clerics who have denied the Faith. There can be no real doubt as to what the Pope’s intentions are - the solution is not to blindly assert that we must be personally loyal to the Pope - that is absurd. To be loyal to the Pope is to believe what he believes and teaches and that is not possible for a true Catholic.

When the Prelates fail to obey Jesus Christ and his teachings it's up to the Sensus Fidelium to pick up the slack and correct the problem

Everything I know about Christ has come down through the Church (Bible, tradition etc). If the Church is getting it wrong, what assurance do I have that it hasn't gotten it wrong in the past? I became a convert on the belief that Christ is guiding the Church. Now I don't know what to believe - what is the truth?
