Marty learned that "Freedom's just another word; for nothing left to lose."

When my daughters pet fish passed away we buried him in an old tea box and she made him a grave marker. A pet is a pet, you love them.

I'm so sorry to anyone else who has experienced this.

SO TRUE.

Abuse doesn’t teach kids not to do something, as much as it teaches them to be horrifically afraid of the very person they’re supposed to trust at all times.

"So, Fred, why did you disown your mom?"

"Well, I once had a fish... and a hamster... oh... and then there was the puppy."

It’s sad that I can’t find jokes like this funny anymore because some parents actually ARE this cruel 😭

"Not to talk back to mommy" is gonna turn to "not to talk to mommy" if this shit goes on.

“Learn not to talk back” is a common prequel to “Why my kids don’t call me anymore”.

One of the worst things abusive parents do is give you things you love and become attached to, just to use them for blackmail later.
Any little movement you do off script, another loss. And then they shame you about it. Specially publicly. That's how I became social phobic and lost all my personal interests. Thanks a lot mom

My parents never understood the concept of talking back, as "that's how a fucking conversation works" as she always says

My mom put my dog down because she was mad at me. I still don't know what I did to make her that mad. Rest in Peace Delilah, you were the best girl.

The worst part is there’s people out here who support this kind of parenting…giving your kid trauma doesn’t help them grow up it teaches them they can’t trust you

My mum also treated my pets with such disrespect when I was a kid, and she was an abusive parent too. I feel this little boys pain deeply. I'll always remember my rat, Jumbo, and how my mum refused to take him to the vet to get put to sleep. He died slow and painfully, despite being my closest friend for a little over 3 years... It still haunts me to this day as a 25 year old, and surprise surprise, I haven't talked to that woman since I was 18. She also abandoned our dog, without giving me or my siblings a chance to say goodbye.

My mother threw my new pet bunny into our pool while i slept( 4th grade for reference). She let me wake up and find it floating and played ignorant except we had a camera she didnt know about.
I didnt get another pet for over a decade and it really hurt me emotionally to were i was afraid of any attachment for YEARS.

She did it because she was jealous of the attention i was giving the bunny. Yes she was a crazy coke addict.
