In a parliamentary session, Sun Xueling addressed questions from Denise Phua and Desmond Choo on strengthening Singapore’s early childhood education sector.

She highlighted efforts to grow the workforce from 18,000 in 2018 to over 25,000 today, with another 1,500 educators needed in the coming years. The government is raising wages, improving working conditions, and introducing professional development frameworks to attract and retain talent.

Sun also assured that preschool fees will remain affordable through subsidies and fee caps, while relief staffing services will help preschools manage short-term manpower shortages.
