Raynaldo Ortiz, an anesthesiologist, is part of an ongoing criminal investigation into serious cardiac complications suffered by patients at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare North Dallas and the death of 55-year-old Melanie Kaspar, another anesthesiologist at the facility.

The Texas Medical Board said Kaspar used an IV bag from the facility, where Ortiz was seen on surveillance footage placing IV bags into a warmer outside operating rooms. According to the board, lab tests of IV bags from the warmer showed they had been tampered with and not labeled to reveal they contained bupivacaine.

Two surveillance videos of Raynaldo Ortiz allegedly placing IV bags into a bag warmer was introduced into evidence at a detention hearing on Sept. 19, 2022. The footage was released to The Dallas Morning News by the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Texas.

Opening the door with a tissue to not leave fingerprints is not only overtly suspicious, too, but his fingerprints should be on that handle. He tried so hard not to get caught that he got himself caught.

The FBI, DEA and all state police organizations must consider implementing medical criminal divisions and deputizing retired physicians to investigate complex medical crimes, money laundering and murders. New reporting systems may also be considered.

As if being ill in the hospital is not enough. This guy comes along ... he should be transforming to fertilizer by now.

What a greaser. Is that 90 weight? The state should have never let him near patients again.

He is carrying the bag in his right hand then switches to the left at around 6 seconds and puts the napkin? under the bag and then pulls it away quick. Then at 20 seconds it look like he puts something in the napkin, folds it, wipes his nose then throws it in the trash.

He was more concerned with wealth, rather than competently practicing medicine. He was trying to make other anesthesiologists look as incompetent as himself. Wonder where he went to med school?!

His "paperwork" got thinner after he opened the IV storage. Hmmm 🤔 possibly making a switch?

So she probably kept stealing IVs, like who was going to pay for all those bags. The Dr made her pay the only way she could, with her life. Dun dun duuuun!
