I want to address a few of the comments here, as I feel there are so much misinformation.

1. Freddie Prinze dated a woman by the name of Lonette McKee in 1976. Her sister is Kathy Mckee, one of Cosby's accusers who he had SA in 1973 in her statement made. So, he more than likely knew 100% about Cosby, and some of the audience members did too. Verified on wiki.

2. The joke that he made was a double meaning, one is that Memphis Tennessee Hilton hotel, that she(Patty Hearst, a criminal celeb.) would be 'opening' for Cosby like a comic, and as a sexual innuendo. The following line in his act he says 'in chico and the man, you can't say hell or damn.' Implying that she would have sex with Cosby but he didn't want to talk dirty. Cosby's act about Spanish fly was well known at that time. Cosby was world famous still in 1976, the idea that Carlin and Prior were bigger than Cosby is so far from the truth, Cosby sold arenas well into 2014, and was doing specials and albums that sold millions even in 1976.

3.Freddie is the father of actor Freddie Prinze Jr.

4.He died due to self infli*** gunsh*t to the head, ruled a sui**** but later turned into an accident by playing Russian roulette.

The joke here is that by 76 Cosby wasn't nearly as hot and hip as he used to be in the 60s when he was the biggest stand up there was. By this point people like Carlin and Pryor were much more hip and popular so the joke was that the best gig Cosby could get would be the Memphis Hilton.

Everybody knew about Bill Cosby, for God's sake, the Spanish Fly routine was released on LP in. the 60s. They just didn't care.

This short clip can, as is obvious in these comments, be interpreted in a number of ways as to what Mr. Prinze “knew.” And people will pick a view of it according to previously held opinion.

Freddie was one of the few who could make me laugh back then. The news of his passing was hard to take.

I remember "Chico & The Man" syndicated in the 80's, worth it. It blows he left life too crazy soon when he did.
😪Who knows what else he could do if he could stick around a little longer to this day.

BC isn’t just out today but he has a ton of supporters too. Never mind that many of his victíms weren’t even adults, all that gets a pass.

I’m usually pretty good at judging peoples character, but Bill had me fooled, or maybe because I’m being biased because I was a fan?

In a book that I own called TV Turkeys, published in 1986 no less, the author referred to an altercation that occurred between Bill Cosby and Tommy Smothers in 1976 at the Playboy Mansion. Now no one knew what was said but the results was that Cosby apparently punched Smothers and to quote the author, "a Smothers Brother lay like a Jello Pudding Pop on the floor of the Playboy Mansion". Now this was during the same time that Cos, a variety sketch comedy series came and went on TV and the author attributed the fight to Smothers mocking Cosby about it.
But seeing this clip and knowing of the several women that came forward, some even as far back as the 70's, one I think even revealed that her encounter with Cosby occurred in 1976, I now wonder if Tommy Smothers knew something that we didn't know then but certainly know now.

The only smoking gun in that joke was Patty's.

Given the audiences reaction, they knew about him too.

Cosby once guest hosted for Johnny Carson in 1982, and did an extremely creepy monologue.
