Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega/1991) Title Screen Comparison (US/JP)

The latter version lacks the "TM" symbol and has moving clouds in the background.

The only difference I see is the sega logo and the clouds

So the color pallet is a bit diferent, the clouds move faster in the JP Version and the TM sign on SEGA in the US Version

I don’t know if you guys can see it but in the Japanese version, there is more waves and more detail in the sea. That’s a difference that requires keen Sonic eyes.

Actually, this is a comparison of the REV00 and the REV01 releases of Sonic 1, and here are the actual differences:
REV01 has extra background effects not present in the REV00 release
REV01 adds a TM to the Sega logo if the region is set to US or PAL, which was practically useless due to it being most commonly found in Asian markets, where Japanese Megadrive consoles actually remove the TM from the Sega logo (I'm assuming a sprite is placed over it to mask it out when the region is set to JAPAN)

Differences:

• Trademarks don't appear in Japan as they don't apply there (applies only to REV00)
• Extra Background Effects (known as Parallax Scrolling, only present in REV01 & REV02)
• Extra Details with the water (the waves are more animated and what not)

Fun fact: On Usa Edition The Screen Got Dark

I've noticed 2 difference. 1. The TM on the Sega Logo on on the US version and when Sonic has his finger up, the Japanese version the wiggling of the finger is a little bit faster. Over it's not that different.

I've seen the differences, but the only thing I didn't notice was that when Sonic is not in the title screen in the Japan version the clouds were moving ;-;
