Hey Students! In this episode of the BYJU’S Champions series, we will be discussing all the important concepts in your Class 8 Science Chapter 14, Chemical Effects of Electric Current.
Summary of the chapter:
Metals such as copper and aluminum are good conductors of electricity, whereas rubber and plastics are poor conductors. In the case of liquids, some are good conductors of electricity while others are poor conductors. Water from sources such as pumps, wells, ponds, and taps is not pure and contains dissolved salts. This type of water is an excellent conductor of electricity. While distilled water is free of salt and is a poor electrical conductor.
Topics covered in this session-
- Chemical effects of electric current
- Current Test – Conductors
- Insulators (Bad Conductors)
- Electric circuit
- Current – Conducting Liquids
- Conduction of Electricity in the Water
- Acids, Bases, and Salts
- Electrodes and Electrolyte
- Electroplating
- Applications of Electroplating
