This video is as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle

The most entertaining part of this video is imagining how many people out there are trying to hammer that pin into the concrete right now🤣. Some drilling may be required

Someone out there is trying this without drilling a hole in the concrete first: guaranteed.

A wise man once told me, never hammer when you can screw. It works for marriages, and it may also work for carpentry.

Im an electrician from Germany.
We use them obviously for mounting cable trails.
One time my supervisor tried to explain the anchor to a Syrian apprentice and was like:
This is the newest technique to mount something truly you’ve never seen something like this but it is not as difficult as it looks.
The apprentice was like:
Yo bro we even had them in Syria and they are older than my dad.
Supervisor got a mental breakdown and throw the anchor across the yard I don’t know why it went that way but I found it funny.

Firstly..it is an expander bolt
secondly...it needs a drilled hole in concrete to EXPAND into.
I don't know much but I know that haha.

As a non-carpenter, this hurts me to my very core.

On his other channel, he shows us how to make a birthday cake. All it shows is him lighting the candles.

Technically, that's over tightened - you shouldn't crush through the surface grain like that.

Perfectly legitimate way to attach framing to concrete- I sometimes do this when attaching bottom plates for walls, but it would definitely help people to understand what’s actually going on if you showed the hammer drill required to sink the hole, and held out the expansion anchor for long enough for people to see that it’s not just a piece of threaded rod. It’s clear from many of the comments that people don’t have a sniff what they are seeing here. I’m guessing though that the poster did that on purpose hoping to stir up negative comments to bump up his comment ratio. If so, Touché, cause I guess I’m here commenting.

Don't use an expandable bolt for structural hold downs, that will crack the concrete by inside and you won't be able to know it. use epoxy bolts to attach structural elements to foundation. Use an expandable bolt for not structural elements such railhand or similars.

You should use preasure treated wood when making contact with concrete! The install pine to that! Aslo, show the drilling portion and prep folks thing you are hammering that into untouched concrete.

Notice how the nut was started 1st as a beating pad. You don't ever wanna fuck up the grooves on a bolt or itll start trying to run cross threaded. I learned that the hard way on a homemade H20 water device into explosive HHO hydrogen which turn water into explosive gas prototype.

So that would be a wedge masonry anchor. A better one would be a drop-in anchor coupled with a recess in the wood so it could sit flush without the threaded portion sticking out.

It's tightened too much; you shouldn't let the washer penetrate the wood for safety.

Washer is far too small and the nut is overtorqued

Fabulous advice for if you wanna split concrete blocks

I imagine he already installed a lag shield and placed a sill foam seal between the wood and the concrete and then ran the bolt
