This is genius! Scrabbling around finding a spare monitor or begging a colleague for one and then finding out all your power supply sockets are taken is a huge P.I.T.A! I will definitely try this, thanks 👍

Canadian amazon has warehouse deals - basically returned stuff. I picked up a previous gen 10" Fire HD dirt cheap. Excellent RasPi monitir with a battery! (hacked in the Play Store, of course)

This is honestly really helpful. I bought an AV to USB capture card, and it worked only the audio part, but it didn't show any video in any program that I tried it on. But then I just tested it on my phone using the app mentioned in this video, just to make sure, and everything worked! So it helped me figure that the problem is on my pc, not the actual capture card.

It would have been nice to go through some trouble shooting steps. I keep getting “this device does not have permission to record.” I cannot find anywhere in my android phone, app permission, or the USB camera app to give the device permission to record.

Question... Could you use the capture card to make a cheap 2nd monitor for a laptop? And would it extend or just mirror the display?

I bough the same card you have here and the recommended apps to connect it to connect a digital camera and phone. So far I have tried 3 different phones + 3 different digital cameras from Nikon, Olympus and Canon and 4 different apps, 2 of which I had to pay for. None of the combinations will give a live view to the phone no matter what setting I choose. The strange thig is the card works if I connect it to a computer using an older Sony HDR CX-450 Handycam video camera with the same cables and capture card. I just call up something like MS Teams and check the settings and the video is working fine.

Do you have any suggestions why I am getting no video ?.
