How to Insert Comments in a protected worksheet?
In this excel tutorial for beginners, I'll show you how you can insert, edit, delete only comments in a Password protected workbook or worksheet. Usually, if you lock a spreadsheet, there is no way you can add, edit, or delete anything without entering the Password. But now I will show you an excellent way to allow comments in a protected sheet in excel.

I will be using excel's built-in feature to solve this. No need to use VBA for this. I'm using excel 2019 for the demonstration. Now, without further delay, let's follow the instruction below and learn how you can insert a comment in a locked worksheet. The trick is simple. Just lock your worksheet, allowing comments. So let's learn how you can do that.

Step 1: Click on the "Review" tab.
Step 2: Click on "Protect Sheet."
Step 3: Enter Password
Step 4: Scroll down and select "Edit Objects."
Step 5: Click ok and Confirm Password.
Step 6: Click "Ok" again.

This is how you can allow adding, editing, deleting comments to protected
worksheets. From now on, you can enable only comments in a locked worksheet. Now, if you follow the instruction above, you can insert cell comments in the protected sheet in excel.
