I think they should just make the red and blue faint or dark based on its importance. It keeps both geography and the election on line. (I think I’ve already seen this used)

I always thought the purpose of the map was simply to tell you which states went to which party, not how significant each state was or how much they were worth.

Throwing so shade at the OG map makers. I doubt they set out miss lead people. It’s a pretty logical step that if sates cast electoral votes as a single entity that you would just color in that section.

During the 2020 election, every map I saw was accompanied by a large bar at the top. It filled republican electoral votes from one side and democratic electoral votes from the other. Whichever made it to the line in the center first won the election. I thought this was a good combination since I like the appearance of the geographically correct map. Doesn't get any easier to read and understand than a line.
