Platinum Jubilee: The Queen appears on Buckingham Palace balcony at end of Jubilee celebrations

The Queen has made an unexpected appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the end of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Her Majesty was joined by her son and heir to the Throne, Prince Charles, alongside the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also by her side along with the Queen's great-grandchildren, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.

I genuinely believed at the time I saw this that she knew this would be her final balcony appearance. Theres a moment during God Save The Queen that her bottom lip gets wobbly, indicating some emotion. What a remarkable woman. Devastating :'(

The Queen is a real trooper. Despite not feeling 100% well, she makes a personal appearance at Buckingham Palace because she knows the people hope and wish to see her. This is why she is so greatly loved and respected. We will never see her like again. Long may she still reign. God save the Queen!

Looking back at this, I think Charles knew. He could barely open his lips and Camilla looked at him when they sang "love live our noble Queen". They had probably been given a short time span to expect her to be with them. Poignant and lovely to have seen her that last time on the balcony.
