What about The Athlete Special with his blue jeans mile?

The whole thing with Bob Beamon - the way they didn’t even have enough tape to measure how far he jumped and how he collapsed when he found out the distance is just so legendary. I’m so glad it’s number one.

Bob Beamon's jump was by far, the greatest shattering of a record in track and field history. I totally agree!

I would have had Bubka in the list - entering the scene when the record was in the 5.80s and pushing it eventually all the way to 6.15...

Van Niekerk broke the WR and made sub 43 seem like a real possibility in an Olympic final. From lane 8. Running totally blind to the competition. Pretty legendary.

The most dominant track and field performance of all time came in 1935 when J.C. Owens of Ohio State broke three world records and tied a fourth in less than an hour. That hour needed to be mentioned somewhere in this video.

Come on, Stefka Kostadinova doesn't even deserve a honorable mention? I mean her world record at high jump is unbeaten since 1987

Agree with number one; it was the only track and field accomplishment that made front page news--and track never makes the front page

I specifically clicked on this video to make sure Bob Beamon was #1

I was getting worried about not seeing Bob on that list. He deserves that top spot.

I completely agree with your number one pick. It still amazes me to think about it!

I agree with number 1, but I think FloJo's 100 m deserves a place on this list. 31 years later and it still stands today, that's dominant.

I would add Bolt's 200m of 19.19 seconds somewhere in there.

Your no.1 pick is correct. Beamon leaping over 29 feet when everyone else in history had not even reached 28 feet??....and during the Olympics for the world to indeed.
