How To Download Games From GameJolt In 2019 | Two Methods! (Windows)

If you're having trouble with Gamejolt, here is a video to help you go through the steps on how to download games from GameJolt in 2019.

I know that it can be strange about how to extract a ZIP file on Windows, especially if you are new to it. This tutorial should give you a couple of easy ways to play various games from GameJolt.

Here are some GameJolt questions you might ask!

Q: Can I create a shortcut for .exe?
A: Yep! You are able to put a shortcut on the desktop for example and start it up from there. Just make sure you don’t delete the extracted files in the folder since you will still need them.

Q: Do I need to keep the ZIP folder after extracting?
A: Nope! It isn’t needed anymore. The reason to keep it though is in case you need to re-extract if you accidentally deleted a file or something. So for back-up basically.

Q: What do I do if the game doesn’t start up?
A: Try running it as an administrator by right-clicking the .exe and then selecting it. You can also try turning off your virus protection since things like Avast, Windows Defender, & Norton can block it. Remember there is always that risk, so make sure the game you download is from a reliable source.

Q: Does this tutorial work for Linux and Mac? (Extracting)
A: I don’t have either of those, so I can’t answer that. You might find some useful information in the video that can help you get through it. I do know the client version is similar for those so you may want to go that route.

“7-zip unsupported command error” - Asked by Cybercrpse

Answer:
Go to your game file and right-click on it. Open With > Choose another app > more apps. Checkmark “Always use this app to open .rar files” then keep scrolling down until you see “Look for another app on this PC”. Click on it and a new window will come up. Find where your 7-zip installation folder is located so for me it is in my program files on my C: Drive where I installed it, select 7zFM and then click open.

Go back to your downloaded folder which should have the 7z logo over it now, allowing you to open it without an error.

My Game is not saving as “Save as” - How do I fix it?

Answer:
If you are using Google Chrome and a Windows Explorer doesn’t pop up when clicking a Download link, it should still download to whatever your location is set. But if you want to fix this then left-click the three dots at the top right of your browser. Go to your settings > Advanced > Turn “Ask where to save each file before downloading” off to the left and on to the right. Exit your browser and then reopen it. After that try downloading another game and your Windows Explorer should pop up.

Question:
I have the error “Location is not available”. How do I fix this?

Answer:
If you come across this error then you probably put a period at the end of the last word when doing the extracting process.

To correct this, open up your games 7-zip folder, then next to the text box, select the folder with an up green arrow. After you found the folder you name, right-click on it and remove the period at the end of the word. This will spawn a second folder and now you can delete them both and redo the extracting process.
